• Emergency and public service communications shall have priority over all other communications.
• Give priority to mobile stations: Variations in travel distance, terrain and repeater coverage may make it difficult for mobile stations to hold the repeater or satellite receivers reliably, not to mention the usual hazards of operating a motor vehicle on Washington’s metro roadways.
• Welcome and include newcomers & visitors: Encourage newcomers to Amateur Radio and visiting ham operators to participate in your QSO, round-table, and club activities. The ARPSC repeater is open to all and repeater use should be encouraged. Please be courteous, friendly and patient.
• Practice good repeater etiquette: Basic repeater etiquette includes standing by for the courtesy tone so breaking stations may be heard and the repeater timer can reset; keeping transmissions brief when a round-table has assembled; and listening so you can learn and follow the established round-table sequence.
• FCC Rules / Good conduct: Repeater users are expected to know and conduct themselves according to all applicable FCC rules and established principles of good Amateur Radio practice. ARPSC has adopted a zero-tolerance policy for unlawful, discourteous, or other behavior that may not reflect well on ARPSC or Amateur Radio in general.
• Use PL tone 107.2 to access the W4AVA repeaters.
• DX Spots: DX announcements are allowed on the W4AVA repeater system provided that the announcements comply with FCC regulation 97.111(b)(6), are timely, and include only the DX call sign, the frequency and mode, whether and how the DX is operating split, and the announcing station’s call sign. DX announcements are considered timely if they are contemporaneous with your DX contact (e.g. real time). Please be judicious in using the repeater system for DX announcements.
